Basic Principles of Urodynamics

Urodynamics is an outpatient study that evaluates the function of the bladder. If done in conjunction with imaging (X-ray or ultrasound), it can also identify structural abnormalities. This test is not painful and is done with the patient awake, so that the patient can follow instructions and give feedback during the study. Urodynamics is an important investigation in identifying the cause of complex bladder problems.

Available in following versions:
- Double lumen Catheters for urodynamic testing for measure pressure in the bladder during filling and pressure flow studies.
- Triple lumen Profilometry Urodynamic Catheters for measure bladder and urethral pressures during filling and pressure flow studies.
- Single and dual lumen Rectal Urodynamic Catheters for measure pressures in the rectum or vagina during filling and voiding pressure studies for urodynamics.
Urodynamic catheters are made of radiopaque polyurethane, biocompatible material with high mechanical features that allows us to manufacture catheters with very thin walls.
Cystometry catheters length 40 cm, Abdominal (rectal) catheters has length 30 cm.
Cystometry catheters also available in J-tip 2 lumen version for secure positioning inside the bladder.
All catheters offer 1cm and 5cm interval depth markings to facilitate catheter placement.
The catheters are fitted with male Luer color-coded connectors wich match all urodynamic systems, adaptor cabels and pressure transducers. The lock connection to the extension lines avoid any possibility of disconnection or leakage preventing incorrect pressure measurements.
The catheters are single-use, supplied sterile in a single pouch.

Double Lumen Cystometry Catheters offer simultaneous bladder filling and pressure measurement from one catheter. The catheter is designed with two lumens.

The lumen with white male luer, printed with (Fill) and opens at 10mm from the tip, is used to bladder filling while the lumen with red male luer, printed with (Pves) and opens at 20mm from the tip, is used for drainage and measure bladder pressure.
The catheter active length is 40 cm and is marked each one cm, starting from (Pves) hole at 20mm from the distal end tip.
The pigtail version is employed to enhance catheter retention and stabilization within the bladder.

Triple lumen Profilometry Urodynamic Catheter

Triple Lumen profilometry Catheters offer simultaneous bladder filling, bladder pressure and urethral pressure measurement through one catheter. The catheter is designed with three lumens.

The lumen with white female luer, printed with (Fill) and opens at 80 mm from the tip, is used to bladder filling while the lumen with green female luer, printed with (Pura) and opens in parallel with the filling hole, is used to measure urethral pressure whereas the lumen with red female luer, printed with (Pves) and opens at 20mm from the tip, is used to measure bladder pressure.
The catheter active length is 40 cm and is marked each one cm, starting from (Pves) hole at 20mm from the distal end tip.

Rectal Urodynamic Catheters

Rectal urodynamic catheters are used to measure the abdominal pressure. There are two types, single lumen catheter and double lumen catheter.

Rectal single lumen urodynamic catheter:
- The non-latex balloon is set around a single lumen tube, the lumen opens inside the balloon.
- The catheter proximal end is fitted with a female luer suitable with the catheter outer diameter.
- The catheter is designed for a measurement of intra-rectal (abdominal) pressure.
- The catheter active length is 30 cm.
Rectal double lumen urodynamic catheter:
- The non-latex balloon is set around a dual lumen tube, the lumens open inside the balloon.
- The lumen with yellow female luer and printed (Pabd) is used to measure the abdominal pressure, the other lumen with white feeding luer and printed (Purge) is used to inject small amount of fluid inside the balloon to keep the catheter holes patent.
- The catheter active length is 35 cm.
